Leaving this BEAUTIFUL place. Today.

12/16/08, 10:16 a.m.
Almost 5 months and 130 Malarone (malaria) pills later...it's here. Today is my LAST day in Africa. Wow, it still seems unreal as I type this.

It was my last morning to wake up to roaring schoolchildren behind our hostel. It was the last morning to grab a banana for breakfast at the market. It was the last day to walk to Afronet (the Internet cafe) to see some of our favorite people-Grace, Maxwell, Lucy, Michael, and Comfort. It will be the last day to soak up the African sun and the beautiful weather. It will be the last day for goodbyes to all the people that have colored my experience here. It will be the last day to walk my flip-flop feet through the dusty, dry grounds. It will be the last day to dance through the night market and to scream with joy as tiny Ghanaian children sprint to hug you with infectious laughter, when they see you coming. It will be a day of many lasts...some still unknown, but it will also be a day that reminds me of all of the beautiful people that have changed my life, that have inspired me, touched my heart, and taught me more than I thought I could have ever learned in this place.

Major blog updates and photo uploads to come when I get home...please check back soon!

<3 Joyfulness and love from Africa,
Carly
