Pieces of Inspiration

Pieces of inspiration are all around me, here in Ghana. They are in my "joy mail" (the letters that I read from friends/family back home), they are in the emails I received, the prayers I pray, the whispers I hear. Pieces of inspiration are in the children's faces, in the markets, in the cool breeze. They are in the music, in the chants, in each celebration and in every tradition.

I have been so blessed to have the time to read, think, journal, write, listen, and pray. Here are a few pieces of inspiration I have to share...

A quote from Ron's "joy mail"-"They will know us by our LOVE."

From Maddie's "joy mail"-"I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world." -and- (From one of Shane Claiborne's college professors, from Irresistible Revolution) "All around you, people will be tiptoeing through life, just to arrive at death safely. But dear children, do not tiptoe. Run, hop, skip, or dance, just don't tiptoe."

Today we're going to Ada, which is east of here (Accra). We are taking a little getaway trip in a group of 13 people (our group plus International/US friends we've met at our Hostel). We will hopefully find ourselves relaxing on a beautiful beach, away from the hustle and bustle of campus and the city. We will return Saturday or Sunday, so I will definitely be "M-I-A" until then.

Side note: "People highlights"-Seth. Our laundryman. He is one of the sweetest people I have met in Ghana. He loves what he does and he does what he loves and all with a smile and one of the most jubilant spirits I have ever witnessed. Last night, Kenz and I brought leftovers back to our hostel for him (laundry keeps him so busy all day, that he rarely gets that chance to eat while on duty from 8am-til lately-8pm). But, we just missed him. We told him this morning that we left some food for him in the common room fridge, and I wish you could have seen the genuine appreciation and gratitude on his face. Seth.

I love and miss you all.
